Aphrodite and Athenas's Story

APHRODITE(Taffy) and ATHENA'S STORY

We knew of these little ones, and their litter mates, almost from the day they were born. Their "grampa" was concerned that we take them into care as soon as they were ready!

He volunteered to deliver them, ....so complex plans were made for foster parents to meet, either at the coordinator's home or at the Sylvan Lake Vet Clinic to take charge of their little ones. The great moment arrived, and rather than four pups, there were only two. The others had run up under the house and could not be caught.

The pups were in the back of a pick up truck, under a tool box, all of which had been carefully tarped for the ride, to keep them safe. After multiple attempts at tempting them out of their hiding place, the trucks' tool box was lifted up and the first pup was carried to the safely of a warm car. The second pup was much more difficult because her level of terror was greater. Let's just say, once in awhile we get "annointed" when rescuing! She was also put into the warm car to wait while those of us "annointed" ones, changed clothes quickly.
Both Athena and Aphrodite did very well during their vet exam, vaccinations and de-worming process at the Sylvan Lake Vet Clinic. We are grateful to Dr. Mattson and his dedicated staff for always being there for us.

"Athena" was introduced to Todd, her foster dad, and "Aphrodite" to her foster mom, Heather, and off they went to a new life. Both pups have emerged from their shells beautifully and are reported to be outstanding little ones.

Update 21 Feb 07: Aphorodite(nicknamed "Taffy") is being fostered up in Edmonton.
Update 26 Mar 07 Aphorodite(Taffy) has been adopted.
