Kiana's
Story
Far out west, there
is a small First Nations Community where AARCS rescues from time to
time. A most kind and caring lady reports dogs in need, and also distributes
food to hungry dogs in the community.
Kiana arrived in this lady's "yard" looking desperate and
hungry. Where she came from is not known - "from the bushes"
is what we were told. Because we had a foster spot open, and a marvellous
foster family to bring her too, Kiana was given a ride to Red Deer.
She is fairly small in stature, probably border collie, heeler, and
maybe shepherd, maybe not! Her foster mom is slowly bringing her around
and reports Kiana to be friendly, playful, cuddly, once she is in the
house. However, we think Kiana has been treated very badly in the past
because she is still terrified to enter the house. Coaxing and treats
does the trick!
Once she has made the transition from outside to inside, she is much
better. At the moment she prefers women to men, but with lots of tlc,
she will overcome this obstacle, much the same as Oreo has.
