Arizona's story
This
little "girl" was brought to the home of the rescue coordinator
on Monday April 10th, around 4 p.m. The people who brought her had remembered
that the coordinator's home was a place of help and refuge for pups,
especially sick ones.
The puppy was rushed to the Sylvan Lake Vet Clinic
where she was examined and given some medicine. For the next three days,
there were many phone calls and some late night trips to the Sylvan
Lake Vet Clinic where the puppy, now named "Arizona"
was started on i.v. fluids.
She continues on i.v. fluids, antibiotics, and anti-nausea meds and
is expected to turn the corner in about 3 days! She is a stout-hearted
little gal who has a long way to go before she is restored to health.
Thankyou to Dr. Lana Keating at Parkland Vet Clinic
for being available also!
When you donate to Alberta
Animal Rescue Crew Society, you are making it possible
for Arizona to regain her health and have a second chance at life. Please
call Melanie at 403-887-2925 or Stu at 403- 227-2762 for further details
about Arizona or donations!
UPDATE:
24 April 06
Arizona, "Ari" is free from her
i.v. now, and eating a special gastric diet (very expensive) along with
rice pablum. She has had a battle with vomitting so she has to eat small
amounts every two hours. When she first was introduced back to solid
food, she ate 1 tsp of noodles every half hour. Very fortunately volunteer
Wilf has been able to spend huge amounts of time, as has her foster
mom, to look after this sweet little one.
"Ari" has mange as well, so we will start treating her again
this week. She had a lovely ecto-soothe bath yesterday and was glad
to be clean.
UPDATE:
09 May 06
Arizona
is still struggling with her digestive system but is making progress
She will begin a course of vaccinations when Dr. Mattson of the Sylvan
Lake Vet Clinic deems she is safe to do so.
UPDATE: 17 May 06
Arizona
has been adopted.
