AARCS is a non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of the public. We do not receive any government funding and rely on donations and minimal adoption fees to help cover the costs of all our expenses, the majority being veterinary care for our animals in foster care.
It’s easy to donate and we make every dollar count!

How AARCS Uses Your Generous Donations
AARCS animals are part of the AARCS family and we will do whatever is necessary to ensure they are treated with the best medical care. A number of our animals are injured (gun shots, broken bones) or suffer from other ailments (skin conditions, genetic conditions, etc). Vet care is by far our largest expenditure. To give you an idea of what your donation can do for an animal in our care. Here are some examples of expenses that we recently incurred.
- Initial examination and vaccination - $65
- Female Spay $200-350
- Male Neuter $150-250
- Leg Amputation - $1,700
- Knee/Joint Surgery - $2,000
Other major costs include the transportation of dogs to and from the First Nations Communities on what we call “Rescue/Food Runs”.
Average Rescue/Food Run: 3-5 volunteers, 2 trucks loaded with roughly 800-1200 pounds of dog food for distribution, a number of kennels and blankets, dog dishes, water. After one heart pounding, exhilarating and exhausting day we return with no food, full kennels of dogs and puppies. Cost per run: $150 to 250 per vehicle per trip.
We have been fortunate to partner with dog food manufacturers and distributors to receive large donations of dog food. Shipping this food 11 times a year to our storage facility awaiting distribution to First Nation Communities costs approximately $300 to $700 per load.
Approximate transportation costs per year: $10,000
Thank you for your generous support!
From all of us at AARCS.
