Ellie's Story
On April 19th, 2008, four rescuers braved a snowstorm and headed for Rocky Mountain House. We had room to bring home 6 pups so with winter coats, boots and hats in hand we braved the strong winter winds and icy roads in search of needy pups. Three hours later we entered the first driveway to drop of dog food. We went house to house dropping off dog food for those who may have run out. It was a long cold day, but worth it. We brought in 10 dogs and luckily after a few phone calls we found room for the 4 extra dogs we brought in. The long drive back to Calgary, the final two rescued arrived home at 11pm after dropping all the pups off in their temporary foster homes. Where we picked up Brandt, Juno & their mom Sari from we also found little Ellie. The family said this little girl was a stray and they would appreciate if we could find her a home. Of course we replied and put this beautiful red female in the truck. Ellie then became the smiling co-pilot for the rest of the day, riding in the cab of the pickup. Ellie was lucky to be rescued as in a few months she surely would have been pregnant. She is a small-medium dog with a slender build. She is extremely beautiful, although her pictures do not do her any justice. She was a little timid at first, but always wagging her tail. When we took her from the truck to the foster mom's back seat, she crawled over to the foster mom's young daughter looking for cuddles. Ellie is going to make a wonderful pet for any family. Update, July 2008: Ellie is an amazing little dog. She loves the off leash park where she can run and play with other dogs and she comes when she is called. She is a sweet cuddly little girl who thinks she should be a lap dog. She is always smiling and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. Ellie is great with kids and other dogs, but does enjoy chasing the house cats on occasion. At the park everyone stops her foster family to ask what breed she is and to tell her how pretty and unique Ellie is. Come out and meet Ellie and you will want to take her home! Her pictures do not do her justice, she is beautiful!
