Keesha's Story
One week ago, some wonderful folk from a First Nations Community
came by to pick up some donated food for their dogs, and advised us
of a lovely Husky who needed our help. They invited our rescue coordinator
to come and visit!
July 6th/06, the rescue coordinator packed some food and treats and
headed off to the community to visit and rescue the dog, who was apparently
pregnant.
She was invited into two homes to visit and "catch up" and
at the second home, "Keesha" was rescued with the help of
a community member who had requested she be taken into care so she would
stop having puppies, and have a chance to rest and relax.
Arrangements had been made for "Keesha" to be taken into the
care of a fantastic dog angel and her family, where she can whelp the
pups, and become part of the family. Sometimes an organization such
as AARCS does not have enough foster homes to accomodate all requests
so we network to find a non-kennel placement. Such is the case with
"Keesha".
On our way to Edmonton (air conditioned of course!), we stopped at both
the Wetaskiwin Veterinary Hospital who graciously gave us a
collar and leash, and at the Wetaskiwin Animal Hospital who
briefly examined "Keesha" because of her advanced state of
pregnancy. There was no charge, only smiles and gracious giving! We
are so blessed. Thankyou to everyone who participated in rescuing this
gorgeous dog.
Update:
01 August 2006,
Keesha has been adopted.
