Ladybug-Kanga

Ladybug-Kanga's story

"Ladybug" stayed with one of our volunteers for approximately six months before being adopted out. She was doing fabulously well with her training, was an eager, healthy and very bright puppy when she left our care.

The volunteer received a call from the animal services in Red Deer, having traced "ladybug" through her ear tattoo. Phone calls were made to the Animal Services folk, and they kindly released her back into our care. She had been with them for 72 hours after being surrendered to them. Dogs in their care have only 72 hours to be picked up by their owners. They can then be adopted out and in some cases can be euthanized. We are so grateful to have her safe again in foster care.

"Ladybug-Kanga" as she has been dubbed by her new foster mom, showed few signs of all the training she had received when she got to her new home. However, she needs time to adjust and get used to her new surroundings. She has no fear issues, or issues with people, so we believe she has been treated nicely. Today, day #2, she is playing with toys, getting along nicely with her elderly doggie friend, walking decently on the leash, and is starting to respond to hand signals and some commands. These commands are inadvertenty given with no expectations! If "Ladybug" responds whe is immediately praised and given a treat!

She has been seen by Dr. Mattson, of the Sylvan Lake Vet Clinic and deemed to be healthy. She has healing cuts on her front leg, and is a bit thin, but her fur and skin are in good condition. She has been spayed (before being adopted out) and her vaccinations are up to date, again before being adopted out.
