Princess' Story
A call came from a wonderful and caring owner who wanted to surrender
her dog to us because the dog had bred again, and the family could not
see her keep on having puppies.
Luckily we had just had a wonderful person volunteer to foster, and
she agreed to take Princess into her home.
The rescue crew, four of us, went to the community on Jan. 25th, after
work, and persuaded Princess (with her owner's help) to get in the car!
That completed, we dropped off some food to another family who had called
us, and drove carefully down the winter roads, on to the pavement, and
to the Sylvan Lake Vet Clinic, for examination and vaccination.
We were concerned about her being pregnant but Dr Mattson determined
that she was only barely pregnant and the time to spay her was now!
Princess was spayed the next day, spent overnight recovering and was
picked up Saturday by her foster mom and the coordinator! The report
from Dr. Mattson included "well behaved, calm, easy to
get along with"
Princess got into her temporary "mom's" truck, met her 6 year
old border collie cross without incident, and off they went home! So
far, "Princess" has been an absolute delight. She has never
seen cats before now, and has been very respectful of them. The cats
have "catittude" which helps train our doggy friends!
Princess has incredible blue eyes, probably from the Siberian Husky
or Australian shepherd side of her. She has rotti in her as well, and
likely other breeds too. Her fur is as soft as a bunny's, and her disposition
is too. She is about 3 years old, and has been shot with a pellet gun
at some time. The pellet is still in her ear, but is doing no harm.
It's hard to think such a fabulous dog had to go through being shot.
Princess is spayed, vaccinated, tatooed, and gorgeous. She is excellent
with kids, other dogs, and does not appear to have any issues at all.
Thanks to the rescue crew - Barb, Brian, Stacey, and to Carla for fostering
her, and to the owner for graciously thinking of the needs of the dog.
Update 03 Feb 07: Princess
has been adopted.
