Story
She is still timid, but we are working on it. She is house trained and walks nicely, but does startle easily. She is a very fun, playful dog. She will go in her crate, but doesn't always want to.
You ever hear the saying, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." Well I can tell you from experience that is not the case at all... I've actually found it just as easy to train an older dog compared to a younger one! When they are older they seem to have an undying sense of gratefulness towards you because they know what a 'hard life' means and they know with you they will have a forever home and a forever companion which means they want to work EXTRA hard to please you!
Rosie is simply a beautiful dog and with her German Shephard in her she is very smart!
I've also dealt with dogs that are scared easily and are timid... and once they learn that nothing bad is going to happen to them and that they can trust you it's amazing how the fear just disappears, that is not to say that you don't have to work hard to gain that trust but in the end it's all worth it!
Fill out an application form and come meet Rosie... Maybe you both could learn a thing or two from each other!!
Update Nov 17, 2009
Because Rosie is still pretty nervous and insecure, we are not recommending her for families with young children at this time. We feel she would benefit from an owner with dog experience, who can continue to help her gain confidence through training and socialization.
Update Nov 27, 2009
Rosie is still a little bit nervous around new people and the foster family would like to take some extra time to work with her on her confidence. Due to this the foster family doesn't think she's quite ready for adoption. We will post updates on her progress as we get them.
Update Feb 8, 2010
Rosie has been returned to us and as a result we will be screening future applicants a little bit more carefully to ensure that the next home is her perfect home.
Rosie needs to be in a home that she is either the only dog OR in a home that the family will be able to spend enough time with her to ensure she is the perfect family pet!
If you are interested in Rosie then please fill out an application form. She is a very special girl and just needs a little bit extra time, love, and patience!
