Story

All animals and creatures have value and a purpose in life.

In this day and age we are warned constantly from the media to adopt responsibly. We need to look out for bad breeders, puppy mills and other questionable sources. These sources usually breed or sell animals that end up getting ill or have an even worse fate. We’ve learned that responsible pet ownership means that we have to invest a lot of love, time and money. Well, when you take all of this into consideration you can probably figure out that some people don’t want to spend a lot of time or money on a dog with a disability. We don’t want to risk investing on a pet that isn’t the picture of perfect health. In this day and age maybe we are looking for convenience and are forgetting how to choose the path less traveled. Is this true…….Can this really be True???? We don’t believe this for one minute!!! We see the kindness and compassion people show when they hear about a poor animal that has been horrifically abused. In cases like these there is always a flood of inquiries of people wanting to adopt these poor animals that couldn’t defend themselves. There still exists that flame of hope! There still exists that beautiful human spirit!

Maui, our special and unique girl is hoping for a miracle. You see, Maui has a disability. It is a disability called ‘hard pads’ which requires occasional trips to the vet for some extra TLC. She also has hips that may eventually require surgery. What does all of this mean? Well, it means that Maui needs a lot of love, time and somebody who is willing to invest some money in her. She has been waiting to capture the heart of a beautiful human soul for the last year and a half. She hasn’t given up on mankind and we are certain that mankind hasn’t given up on her. If you would like to see Maui’s value or help her to fulfill her true purpose in life, please contact us. Her foster family is more than happy to answer any questions for potential adoptive persons.

Update Mar 4, 2010

Maui has been available for adoption since July 2008. She is a wonderful little dog full of personality and a heart of gold but due to her disabilities and special needs normal placement proved to be difficult. Luckily, Maui had AARCS to support her during her quest to find her forever family, and we will keep our dogs until they find their forever home, no matter how long that takes. During this time she has remained at the same foster home. She has become a regular member of the house
hold and her foster family (humans and canines) could not picture her being anywhere but with them. Maui will be staying with her foster family, permanently. Maui will still be part of AARCS, acting as a spokes dog and mascot to dogs with disabilities.
She is proof that ones deemed "unadoptable" can still live a good life and are worthy of a loving home.
