Story
Zoey’s Story so far…
This little sweetheart was found on the side of the road, no one came looking for this beautiful looking girl, and now she’s looking for her forever home. When Zoey first came to us she was very timid and scared, it was pretty obvious she didn’t have much human contact. The first night she cried all night in her kennel, but after about the third night she got used to sleeping in her crate. About that time too we found she was coming to us for attention and started playing A LOT with her foster brother. It didn’t take her long to come out of her shell. In the beginning she was getting into everything!! The houseplants was her favourite for a while, but after a few firm words she quickly realized that the houseplants and other furniture were off limits for chewing. She is a very smart pup and we think she will be a great addition to a loving family. We feel Zoey would do best in a home with another dog(s) or in a home where there would be someone around all the time. She really craves attention, and she doesn’t like to be alone. Although she is a lovely little girl, she is also tough as nails, this little girl plays rough with her foster brother, she could be pinned down and out for the count but the little stubborn girl will go back for more and more and more!! We tried to take Zoey for walks with her foster brother but she isn’t so sure of the leash. As soon as the leash is put on she won’t move, something that we are working on of course, she seems to catch on to things quickly so we are not worried that she won’t figure this one out. We are also working with her on getting her to do her basic commands. This little girl will capture the hearts of anyone and we hope she will capture yours. If interested in this pup, or want more information, please contact AARCS.
No contact with cats to my knowledge so we are not sure, but with her personality she would probably do well, be more curious than anything. She is great with other dogs, we have a Siberian husky cross and they are best friends, she loves to play with him, they wrestle and play ball together. Our dog Saber loves Zoey, he’s always checking to make sure where she is and when it’s time to come inside, he always makes she Zoey is with him. We have 3 kids, youngest being 3 years old, Zoey loves interacting with all of them, I really don’t think Zoey cares where she gets attention from as along as she gets it.
Crate trained, will do business outside, but if nobody is around will sometimes have an accident.
Update Mar 31, 2010
oey has been such an amazing pup since we have had her. She is now walking on a leash!! She also has overcome her fear of stairs which is great. Sometimes we still have to coax her a bit, but at least she will go up and down them. Potty training has been great too haven't had any accidents in a few weeks, so we will keep our fingers crossed. Zoey has grown so much since we have had her but at the last visit to the vet we were told she isn't going to get very big. All the staff at the vet clinic here in DRumheller love Zoey and keep asking us why we aren't adopting her. Well this is it... We have largely considered adopting Zoey many times, but have come to the conclusion that if we adopt her, we will no longer be able to foster any dogs as we already have one and 3 kids :-). We are very impressed with Zoey's personality and her qualities and think she is just the sweetest pup ever. Did anyone notice the heart shape patch on her forehead?? :-)
