Shaughnessy's Story
Shaughnessy was found by a kind lady in the First Nations community
out west. He was about 3.5 months old, shy and a bit thin. At AARCS
we are very fortunate to have a wonderful volunteer living in the west
country and it was he who provided transport to the Sylvan Lake
Vet Clinic where Shaughnessy was checked over, vaccinated and
given worm medication.
Shaughnessy has been neutered, has had alll his vaccinations and has
grown into a large dog. We believe he might have Burnese Mountain Dog
in him as well as shepherd, and Rotti, though we can't be absolutely
sure! Shaughnessy needs a family who can give him running room, supervision,
and lots of love, and an invitation inside so he can bond well. He gets
along well with other dogs, loves kids, and is getting over his shyness
toward people. He related well to our visit yesterday, tail wagging
and very excited.
Update June 10, 2006
As
of June 7th, Shaughnessy is house trained, and is learning to have showers
which were necessary up til now because his skin was in need of regular
cleaning. Happily, his skin is completely clear. Shaughnessy is being
gently trained in basic commands and is loving his new friend "
Storm" who is helping him adjust to his new situation.
