Winnie and Nonie's Story
Today(Nov
12/06)our rescue trip was joined by a very spry and spirited 80 year
old great grandmother (affectionately known as "GG"),
who was once a recipient of the SPCA Humanitarian of the Year award.
What a privilege!
Our mission was to rescue the siblings to Tika
and Mika, which was accomplished. We were able to
see the mother dog as well, who graciously allowed us to take her last
two "babies". The family looking after these dogs had provided
a sheltered porch and a sleeping bag for them to lie on. Mama dog is
a small lab cross and as per usual, the father(s) are not known!
We always have to have names for our little ones before they arrive
at the Sylvan Lake Vet Clinic to see Dr. Mattson. Today we
named the pups after our lovely "GG" whose name is Winona.
Thus we have "Winnie", and "Nonie".
Winnie and Nonie were safely delivered into their foster parents arms
for the long trek home to Calgary. Siblings Tika and Mika came
for the ride and are looking absolutely marvellous. A week in foster
care makes such a difference.
Thanks so much to every one involved in today's rescue, and to the family
who were caring for the pups and their mom.
