Chloe, Zoe, and Beau
About
three weeks ago, a kind lady from a community waaay out west let us
know she had been handed three starving puppies to look after and she
needed our help.
We were able to get food to her but didn't have any foster homes available
until two more wonderful families stepped forward.
On April 19th 2007, through the snow storm and slushy roads, the three
little ones, now about 12 weeks, were driven to the Sylvan Lake Vet
Clinic where they were met by two AARCS volunteers, rescue blankets
in hand, to cuddle the frightened pups. Wonderfully, they had been bathed
and smelled clean and felt soft. Their first dog angel had been able
to help them back to health.
All our pups have to be named prior to seeing Dr. Mattson so the girls
were given Chloe and Zoe, and the boy, Beau. They were duly weighed,
examined, de-wormed and vaccinated and pronounced pretty healthy, all
in all. Zoe and Beau need to gain a bit of weight.
One of our new foster families arrived to pick up their new friend,
Beau, and to look after Zoe until this morning. Chloe came home with
the coordinator until her foster mom arrived through the snow storm
from Lethbridge. Chloe quickly adjusted and was full of waggles, kisses,
and puppy fun. Zoey and Beau had a good night as well!
Today, Friday April 20th, our volunteer from Lethbridge took Chloe to
Calgary to her new foster family and continued home through some nasty
roads.
We are so grateful to all who participated in this incredible rescue!
It took many loving people to give these little ones a second chance.
update 24 April 2007(from
her Foster Mom) Zoey
is a very sweet little pup! She listens very well and has so far learned
"come", "sit", and "no", and we're working
on more. She likes to follow you around and play and listens when you
tell her not to do something. She is very smart and has only had a few
accidents in the house, which were the human's fault, not hers. Zoey
is very sociable and will come up to strangers, she gets a little wary
if you come up to her, still a little scared but she's getting better.
She is great with people she knows and trusts. She sleeps through the
night and is doing well with her crate training. She has been excellent
with chewing and has not even touched what isn't hers. If she starts
you only have to tell her no and she doesn't try again. She loves other
dogs and is very respectful of them, she likes to play but if the other
dog doesn't at the time Zoey will leave them alone. She wants to play
with the cats but is a good girl and leaves them alone as she is told.
She likes to cuddle when she is sleepy and she loves to give kisses
all the time. She is pretty calm, she will have boughts of silliness
then snooze for a bit, then it's back to playing! She is a very good
and generally easy puppy, I think she will make someone very happy. Zoe has been adopted.
Update July 16, 2007 from Zoe's Adoptive Mom:
Zoe is a very playful, happy 5 ½ month old girl. She loves attention, but she also loves playing in the back yard chasing everything. Her foster mom, Sarah, did an awesome job with her, and she is quite socialized with other animals. My husband and I are so thankful for the efforts of AARC, as we would be lost without this little girl in our lives.
Zoe has an appointment to be spayed tomorrow morning. She will also be tattooed at that time. We are going to start obedience classes in Calgary on August 13th, 2007. We all need it!
After our experience with adopting Zoe, we are incredibly interested in fostering for AARC. We know that we want another addition to our dog family soon, and we want to help out the efforts of AARC. Rescuing is the way to go!
